Sure hope no hostile nations roll a giant wooden horse into DC as a peace offering.
Historical record shows that tactic to be the downfall of a civilization.

Re: North Korea News
The historical record shows that the last time the Chinese charged onto the Korean Peninsula, it was actually a disaster for them, they lost over a million troops, they held the line against a vastly smaller US/UN force, but it was no cakewalk, they were pushed to the brink of collapse, so I seriously doubt the regime in Beijing now is up for throwing caution to the wind in the contemporary paradigm, certainly not by making the first move in a blitzkrieg, never mind that this PLA has never conducted a blitzkrieg before, and so is not a battle tested operationalized force when it comes to that sort of gig.
Bear in mind, when the Chinese sued for peace in the Korean War, it was to avoid a massive American counterattack poised to launch in 1953, which the Chinese feared was going to break their lines, they called a halt to it, because they were about to lose the war.
They caught MacArthur off guard and made a stab at it, but once Ridgeway took over, things started going very badly for them, and by 1953, the Americans were ready to take it to the next level, and the Chinese took a pass.

When was the last time the PLA conducted any sort of operation on a large scale? 1979? They got their asses handed to them, by the Vietnamese.
They haven't fought a war since, but somehow they're the dominant military force on earth now? Based on what? The way to prepare for wars, is to fight wars, so by definition, they wouldn't be well prepared for that.
Who said anything about them being the dominant military force on Earth? LOL. I just took exception to your assertion they could not possibly do it without people like your niece noticing them mobilizing. Get real. I have seen several wings deploy to the Pacific theater in 48 hours without anybody being the wiser by just playing games with logistics, sortie scheduling, and hiding jets in maintenance hangars. The difficult part is not doing it but seeing it happening in the noise.

Re: North Korea News
When there is some actual evidence that there is imminent war on the Peninsula, I could address that, but since is there is actually zero evidence that that it what is going on, there's nothing to address, there's no point in arguing over internet clickbait screeching, there's no there there.
The Chinese, supposedly, held a military exercise? Whoppie fuckin do, they do that all that time, so what?

Dude, I doubt the Chinese are going to invade. I simply take exception to the assertion that they cannot possibly do this without most of the world noticing. Of course they can.

Re: North Korea News
I find the scenario of a massive Chinese blitzkrieg out of the blue with no warning, to be an extremely implausible scenario in the contemporary paradigm, there was no satellite surveillance in 1950, it's not 1950 anymore, a Chinese build up for a major war, could not be hidden in this day and age.Speaker to Animals wrote:Dude, I doubt the Chinese are going to invade. Since the advent and widespread deployment of overhead assets, the surprise attacks of the Second World War variety, have become extremely difficult if not impossible to pull off, on anything other than a limited scale.

It's very possible. Again, it's a matter of playing games with routine deployments, logistics, and scheduling. Everybody knows when the satellites are watching. We hide shit and then quietly move equipment and personnel by mixing them into routine operations.
If Americans can do this, then bet your lilly-white ass the Chinese can do it too.

Sabers are rattled without actually building up troops. These guys are good.
The state owned newspaper reported that the "reports were being widely circulated", they didn't say it was true.
That. Is 5-dimensional chess. Not braying about your hands and suing people.

Re: North Korea News
If the Chinese were building up on the Yalu, the NRO would see it, and then the carrier strike groups would be moving in earnest, the Americans can't actually hide a build up for war, the seapower would be moving its seapower in response to a massing of Chinese forces, and according to US Navy.org, they're not moving at all.Speaker to Animals wrote:It's very possible. It's a simply a question of, where's the beef? I don't see any. Clickbait don't rate.
