He ran with me through a five klick cross country ski, he's gone up and down the hill here retrieving the ball about fifty times, that's another five klicks right there, and now he's going balls to the wall with me and the rope toy, I got six other dogs here, and they're all napping, but the Boxer still has hours to go before he's spent.
Yeah, boxers are great dogs for active men. I would go with the female, though. They are much more affectionate.
He's a great workout buddy, and he's super affectionate, he's just like a paratrooper, he's Airborne all the way, he will pass out eventually, but not until he's done his PT, so long as you're up for the Airborne PT, he's all good.
If you like to do cardio, the boxer is your best friend. Running, hiking, whatever. He's on it.
My American bulldog.. nah. He can walk about a mile or so. He doesn't do cardio. He's like a bodybuilder, not an athlete.
My American bulldog also isn't as clingy. He sleeps at the corner of the bed on his own blanket. My boxer sleeps glommed up against me every single night under the covers alongside me. I think new dog owners should think about little things like that, because it really tells you what kind of dog you might want. I love the protection the big guy brings to the table. He's absolutely beautiful. Magnificent, really. But it's more like we are partners on the hunt whereas the boxer is like our little princess.
