Yeah, I like Mint. it's nothing fancy. Very simple, but elegant.

There are security issues with IRC unless you patch up some things. Not a big deal in a support IRC though. Puppy Linux had one too. You would get a friendly greeting from the puppy bot.

How did you install mint? A fresh install? I'm thinking of doing that because I didn't partition enough disk space into Linux. I assumed I could repartition later more space from windows but I heard it can cause corruption of both OS's. Actually, I guess a fresh install and repartition could still damage windows. Oh well. I'll roll those bones.

Yeah, just one big partition.

XP was actually pretty damned good for what it was and in its time. It sucked for any kind of development work, but for the average user, it was stable and worked perfectly.

You can still get windows black but it's probably best left alone unless you know exactly what you are doing. Too many security issues. I like 7 pro personally but it's near the end of its life and they still want too much money. On top of that, you have to stop it from trying to update into the botnet, or at least that was the case a few years ago. I can't imagine buying a bnib win7 and not having a refund on your hands if it surreptitiously updated overnight, which has happened to people.

I just don't even like Windows. I am much happier in Linux. I miss some of the games a little, but I have no intention of dual-booting.
