Are you disputing the facts accepted by the Supreme Court?
I’m disputing your assertion that Amazon employees regularly wait “hours” without pay to get through security.
Do you have evidence to support your claim?
That was literally the basis of the Supreme Court case. It was not in dispute by either side.

"Literally."

For those who have forgotten, SCOTUS went 9-0 to overturn the 9th Circuit and rule against a cabal of slimy class-action plaintiffs lawyers.

Bernie Bros just can't get a break!

Uh..yeah.. it literally was.

The Supreme Court ruled that it was perfectly fine for an employer to lock employees in a room for hours without pay. The only remedy we have for that now is to regulate it.

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled unanimously that a temp agency was not required to pay workers at Amazon warehouses for the time they spent waiting to go through a security screening at the end of the day. The workers say the process, meant to prevent theft, can take as long as 25 minutes.

“Literally hours”

Like I said, Bernie bro talking points, media hysteria, and extreme hyperbole.
They can’t create human travesty out of facts, so they resort to fabricating them entirely from fantasy.

The Supreme Court ruled unanimously Tuesday that workers who fill orders in Amazon.com warehouses need not be paid for the time they spend going through security checks to ensure they have not stolen any products.

The court reversed a lower-court ruling for the workers, who alleged they spent up to 25 minutes waiting to go through security clearance at warehouses in Nevada.

But Justice Clarence Thomas said federal law requires that workers be paid for activities before and after their shifts only when the activities are “integral and indispensable” to the job they are hired to perform.

“The court of appeals erred by focusing on whether an employer required a particular activity,” Thomas wrote. “The integral and indispensable test is tied to the productive work that the employee is employed to perform.”

So, no labor or safety laws being broken, even in the Socialist UK - but subhuman working conditions.
We are now in our 8th year of Conservative govt.
Our Socialist opposition party is so weak it couldn't even beat Theresa May in the last general election.
In no sense what so ever is the UK Socialist.
Workers do have more rights in the EU though so maybe that's why you think we are.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

It’s hard to think of a corollary to the Amazon fulfillment center situation (even though some think it’s so common as to be in danger of “spreading”) with regards to security. At the FAA I had to pass through security (not on the clock) but it took only a few minutes. Think of all those aggregate minutes AT work where I wasn’t being paid!!! Of course, I wasn’t producing shit for my employer either, but we’ll continue to ignore that fact.

Maybe people who work at Starbucks in airport terminals? Do they have to go through the TSA screenings on their way to the coffee kiosk? Should Starbucks pay them for all the time the TSA is fondling their balls?

Or ... if you know there’s a TSA checkpoint between you and your register, should you be grown up enough to take that into account before accepting the position?

I tend to side with personal responsibility and accountability over big government micromanagement.
But I’m clearly a dying breed, even here.
