There are lots of leftists around here I definitely would not want to tangle with. Those old mountain hippies are better armed than me.

What makes the leftist though really? The fact that they are more gnostic/agnostic and smoke lots of weed or something more ideological? Because if they are fairly self reliant, mechanically inclined, and hunters then I cannot see them truly as "leftist" not really and especially if we had separatist movements and civil war actually going on.Speaker to Animals wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:44 amThere are lots of leftists around here I definitely would not want to tangle with. House votes in favor of illegal immigrant voting
DJT should walk away with the 2020 election, but these bastards are working OT to ensure that doesn't happen.

Re: Civil War Doomsday Clock
There has to be a watershed event that would kick it off. What that would be is impossible to say.
I've dabbled in future-dystopian-patriot-civil war fiction. The best an most likely of all the books I've read is Glen Tates 299 Days series. You should check it out DB, if for no other reason its written about your area. It's the reason I call Lefties Lima's.
What Tate gets right is that there is no Communist or Nazi or Rainbow flags flying over the White House with the Gestapo marching through the streets. He has it kicked off by a partial collapse of the US government initiated by Economic crisis. Some of the good points he makes.
1) The Federal gov focuses on the cities and propping them up
2) Local leaders flush with more resources and power relative to the average person do bad shit
3) The Fed Gov stands up a 'civilian corps' to help. And they are given special benies and treat others like shit
4) The power and internet is still on, but outages are common, and inconsistent. Lots of hacks into infrastructure, many from foreign players just to weaken the country.
5) Feds Nationalize key infrastructure
6) Feds take control of food production as best they can, Naitonalize Trucking and Transport
7) If you are in the hinterlands, your pretty much on your own, lots of local problems there related to theft and people with prescription and illicit drug problems
8) Increasing desertions from the US military over time. A bunch of former military folks engineer taking back the Washington State Government from the Lima's. Recruit and train forces, build intel cells and start propaganda campaigns
It's just the most realistic portrayal I've ever read. For me, I'd say it's 70% accurate to how I would see things going down.

Cynic in me talking.
I won't give up on the political route until we are looking at a Maduro getting 120% of the possible vote type stuff.
Based on the shenanigans we saw in the 2018 Election, it's going to be really bad in 2020. Then I see shit like this letting illegals vote...…… Doesn't look good Team.

And, in the spirit of the thread, here's a little tip for all you crazy cats getting prepped for the Xir uprising:

Sounds about right. Pretty much impossible to organize a resistance army in that scenario.C-Mag wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2019 10:53 amThere has to be a watershed event that would kick it off. What that would be is impossible to say.

Not that many of the “right” are willing to shoot it out with the police over their guns either. That’s just fantasy.

I think confiscation would be the best red flag that it's time to leave before you get put on a train car.

Authors first book, the writing is OK, not great, the main value is his vision of things.
Glen Tate is a pen name for the author that works in State Government in Olympia, so lots of cool little insights in how he sees the Lima sausage being made in Olympia. Good little romp around the Puget Sound region. With a little bit a ubermenschen hero stuff, though he keeps it fairly well under control.
It's a 10 book series, but you'd rip through a book in a day easy. The first 5 are the best, 9 and 10 suck. You can tell that he was racing to finish the series by the end of it. I can only recommend up to book 8.
It is a little expensive for the quality and quantity of the writing, but personally I still find it valuable.
