I'm talking about the motto.
Communiter may be bad Latin like many mottos but it refers to the world coming together to strive to be faster, higher, stronger.
There are few positive interpretations for an intentional misuse of the ‘commune’.
Do you find the notion of coming together to play games threatening too?
However, our media has managed to make a mockery of it, like everything else.
But consider: the historic motto refers to the competition itself, not the nations involved. There is no ‘together’ in competition.
So, adding the ‘commune’ implies that either:
1 - the athletes are supposed to be helping each other (ridiculous)
2 - the games are simply an exhibition of how ‘fast and high’ the global governments can get someone to go. Again, the individual is undermined.
