I don't want to live in a free society where it's perfectly acceptable for able-bodied citizens to live in outside in my neighborhood, in a tent, where they piss and shit in the streets and litter everywhere, while openly taking drugs all day. But, hey, that's just me.

Citizens get to control the commons, move them vagrants along for all I care.

Still, has nothing to do with homelessness-as-a-lifestyle people asking for handouts.
HAIL!

Her needs America so they won't just take his shit away like in some pussy non gun totting countries can happen.

Perhaps a property deed or lease agreement could be part of the paperwork one has to show officers during random police stops. If they don't have their papers, haul em off to jail or the looney bin.

Or, you know, when the cops are forced to respond to a bum who wreaks like cat piss getting into a violent altercation with his reflection in the train window, they can drop him off at the loony farm for evaluation by a psychiatrist.

Huh. Well over here when someone is arrested for doing something crazy there's usually a psychological evaluation as part of the deal, they call it the "Johnson Unit"

I understand people would rather not see homeless people, be accosted by beggars and so on, but since when does disagreeing with someone's lifestyle on aesthetic grounds entitle you to effectively outlaw it?

The vast majority of the visible homeless are mentally Ill, drug addicts, scam artists, or probably some combination of those three.

Most of the visibly homeless belong in mental hospitals, which is where we kept them until the fucking neocons shot down the mental health system.

I am not talking about normal people who are forced into homelessness or choose it. They are the vast majority of the homeless and are largely invisible to society. If you want to help them.. secure the borders, deport illegals, close down the "trade" deals, and shutdown the family courts. Most of the normal homeless who don't want to be homeless would no longer be homeless if you did those things. We are talking here mostly of men, blue collar workers, and fathers who were enslaved by the family courts and cannot afford to live in shelter due to the fact that the state seized almost all their income and refused to account for that if those fathers apply for welfare. These are the invisible poor.

I think I'd be down with bringing back those pre-Reagan mental health services.

I'd also be down with more immigration control, closing borders, deporting violent illegal people and offering the nice illegal people a path to citizenship.

In terms of dealing with piss and defecation on the sidewalk, I think there should also just be more public restrooms open year long, otherwise it puts an unfair burden on private businesses, and then they put locks on their bathrooms.
