Can’t slow down that which never gained momentum to begin with.

Oh ya...

And it's fun to shoot stuff.

I've written down a few handguns to consider...

I was thinking shotgun... but I'm a bourgeois pantywaist with no time to train...

Better go with the point and click.

Better yet... get both and go to the range when I get a chance.

Good call.

Revolvers - Maximum return on minimum training.

Also fun!

Do y'all actually store your ammo separately from the weapons.

My kids are 15 and 13 and they are responsible... my son will qualify for his own gun licence soon enough.

I prefer to keep them loaded in a quick-access safe that only my wife and I can open. Can’t mess around with trying to load in the dark if someone is already in the house.

For load make ready under duress with ammo stored separately, that's where the shotgun comes in handy, 12 gauge pump, pocket full of shells.

Need to train for that tho, hand loading into the breach in double quick time.

In terms of CQC with a long gun? If they close up to that range; cave their skull in with the butt stroke.

You don't actually need a bayonet, stab them in the throat with the breacher muzzle, forehand smash, backhand smash, stomp them into a paste.

I figure a short-spear makes a decent home defense non-firearm weapon. Got a stabby part. Got a bashing part. Good reach.

What’s your preferred medieval home defense weapon?

I'd probably go for dual use, shotgun/club, I've got the size, the strength, the speed, and the muscle memory for bayonet fighting, and the bayonet is not actually necessary, more likely a bayonet would get stuck, so like a say, just use the breacher muzzle, goes through car windows, goes through wind pipes too.
