The Turks are out of the loop too, they played the Incirlik card one too many times, which is why American Kurdistan will become the new base of operations in the north, the Americans are sick and tired of being denied Incirlik, so they're going to build a new one, on the other side of the border.

Iraqi Kurdistan probably a slight bit more of a stable and friendly region to build a new military base in than Syrian Kurdistan, though.

Actually, imagine a Kurdistan along the north of Syria and Iraq, and an Assyria just to the south of it. Christians would provide a decent buffer between the Kurds and the Sunni/Shia. You could draw in the Christians from all over the region there too.

The Syrian side is the FOBs, the Iraqi side is the support bases, but it's all under the Americans now, they control the whole thing from the air, my buddy was over here the other night, just back from Erbil, says it's all Americans and the Peshmerga, no Iraqis to be seen, Baghdad is flipping out about it, but the Americans are done with Baghdad, they're just ignoring them.

You can't even approach the American bases on the Syrian side, that's how those Russian "contractors" got whacked, the Americans have declared a no go zone around their FOBs in Syria, the Russians bumbled into one, BLAM! CENTCOM dropped the hammer on them, wiped them out.

At one point, the Canadians were bringing kit in for Erbil, and they went through Baghdad, and the Iraqis tried to seize it on the airfield, wouldn't let them take off, said that they were arming the Peshmerga to effect an independent Kurdish state, which, pretty much tru.

They were in a Mexican standoff with the Iraqis, the Iraqis surrounded the planes, the troops had to circle the wagons to keep them at bay.
