Mistake number one: not believing they will smack the shit out of your face when you play like that.

I'm boarding a Boxer right now, very high energy dog, do not get one to be a lap dog, this guy can go all day and come back for more.
They don't shed, that's a major bonus, the hair on the Boxer is furniture friendly, but Boxer is literal, this little guy has endless endurance, he never tires out.
Definitely needs training, the client boards this dog with me because no family members will take him, he's too much of a handful.

They just need lots of exercise. They make the best lap dogs I have ever seen as long as they get the exercise. That's all they want to do inside: cuddle and love.
Don't get a boxer unless somebody is home with him or her most of the day or you plan to use some kind of doggy day care. That's my advice. If you are willing to put out for doggy day care, they will be great, since they will get the exercise they need when you pick them up and will just cuddle with you all night.
This breed is very social and needs a lot of relationship time.

He's a great dog, he's very sweet, he just wants to be loved, but he's all muscle and mayhem, if you're going for a Boxer, you gotta be up for the action.

He ran with me through a five klick cross country ski, he's gone up and down the hill here retrieving the ball about fifty times, that's another five klicks right there, and now he's going balls to the wall with me and the rope toy, I got six other dogs here, and they're all napping, but the Boxer still has hours to go before he's spent.Speaker to Animals wrote:Smitty-48 wrote:He's a great dog, he's very sweet, he just wants to be loved, but he's all muscle and mayhem, if you're going for a Boxer, you gotta be up for the action.

I get that, but just starting your sprint a little sooner than the next guy would put you miles ahead.Montegriffo wrote:It's tactical though. Just cut the distance then, and be done.
