People are grasping at things like UBI just because it deconcentrates wealth a tiny bit (at the threat to all of society). The solution is to break up big business, inheritance taxes, progressive income taxes, and indoctrination of conscientious values in schools. The trajectory we are on now only ends in liberty’s demise.

I support every single one of those concrete policy ideas. But it is simply not true that people can not build wealth for themselves right now with the way things are, or pursue personally edifying hobbies, or do anything else that they deem worthy of their time.

I’ve certainly done some of those things as well. But the scale of wealth in this country is incomprehensible to most.

We have by far the wealthiest society on earth - yet only for a few. Our middle and lower classes have the same standard of living as any other westernized country. Lower, if you count the stress and work hours.

So where’s all the extra money for being America? It’s flying over your head, getting a blowjob at 30,000 feet in a leather recliner. It’s lying on a beach somewhere while you work and bust your ass just to pay the mortgage.

I am no commie. But I look forward to the pitchforks.
