He's not the Soviets, he doesn't have that kind of power, Putin's got enough problems controlling Russia never mind North Korea, and as I said, this whole North Korean nuclear blackmail to Juche domination plan was intended to free them from the Soviets anyways, even the Soviets would be confounded by them at this juncture, it's not like the Soviets would have wanted this situation, the Soviets were actually terrified of America, if the Soviets were around now, they'd be shitting in their pants, because Kim Jong Un would be vectoring them towards a de facto confrontation with America, which they would have wanted no part of.

Well, even Nazi Germany was more conducive to leverage than the North Koreans are, they didn't want a war with Britain, and the British and French were not actually backed up against the wall in Poland by Nazi ICBMs and hydrogen bombs, they could have just gotten out of the way, but where is America supposed to back off to? There is nowhere to back off to, in the face of intercontinental thermonuclear blackmail.

Thing is, nobody intended for World War Two to be as big as it was, in 1939, in 1939 the stakes were much different than they were once the Germans had blitzkrieged France out of the war.

In 1939, the British were not going to war over Poland, the British were going to war over India, because the Italians had suddenly flipped to the Germans side, which threatened the route to the Suez in the Mediterranean, the British didn't actually care about the Continent, they were perfectly happy for Hitler to go to war with Stalin, but when he didn't, and instead the Soviets just hung back to let the Germans take the heat, the British decided that they needed to put a stop to it, never imagining in a million years that Germany could take the Continent is six weeks.

Just like Stalin, the British were expecting a stalemate in the West, Germany contained at the very least, when that all went a cropper, World War Two exploded completely out of control.

Was it just dumb luck they didn't launch against whoever the past several years they've had nukes? If MAD doesn't hold true against them , then why haven't they just launched?

US drills in the region have stopped, though it’s unclear whether the US will abide by South Korea’s request. However, the brief lull in the area was interrupted Thursday when local media reported that China has decided to hold military drills of its own.

According to the South China Morning Post, China is now conducting a live-fire exercise off the North Korean peninsula, and is expected to last for four days. In addition to citing security concerns, Beijing also criticized the US for pushing the region toward nuclear war.

I'm sure it's all just a massive coincidence. I mean, china is completely helpless in all of this.
