Well you also already know what their position is, and since it is a non starter, there's nothing really to talk about, you don't negotiate just for the sake of negotiations, there has to be some common ground to negotiate on, and since their isn't, "we want negotiation" is simply NK propaganda, and America is of course right not to play that silly game with them.

As if North Korea would ever adhere to any agreements anyways, they're just trying to buy time, to get their nuclear weapons to concealed and dispersed at launch on warning.

The North Koreans are going to "negotiate" when they feel that they are in a position of strength, and that of course, is when the shit is gonna hit the fan, when they back America up against the wall.

The Chinese can't fix this mess, it's way beyond their control at this point, any attempts by them to significantly leverage Pyongyang, will just cause the shit to hit the fan sooner rather than later.

The North Koreans have the Chinese deterred, the Chinese are spooked by them more than anyone. The only people who ever had any influence of significance over the North Koreans, was the Soviets, if the Chinese had any influence over them, we wouldn't be anywhere near where we are now.

This is wholly a Soviet proxy, which went completely off the leash, when the leash simply disintegrated, and the Chinese are caught in the fallout just as much if not more than anyone, the North Koreans were a proxy which the Soviets had always used as leverage against Beijing, Beijing never had any control over them, it's completely out of control at this juncture, because the whole point of the forty year plan which is coming to fruition now, was to make it self sustaining without any need for the Soviets, never mind the Chinese.
