Look up the word "brinkmanship" sometime. They're gonna be playing Chicken for all the marbles they can grab in the coming years, mark my words.Zlaxer wrote:KerningChameleon wrote:They don't have to actually shoot the missile (well, missiles, who knows how many of the things they'll be able to produce and have on standby as the years go on), they just have to prove they can and convince you they will fire them if they feel existentially threatened. Which goes beyond actual invasion, they will almost certainly agitate in the coming months that continued sanctions represent a now intolerable threat to the North Korean state. It's good old Nixon Play-The-Madman Theory. And it'll work, people in power are way more skittish about the possibility of actual nuclear attack outbreak than you seem to believe. Probably because they have a much more informed view of what the actual threat landscape is, and how dancing on the knife's edge we really are.Zlaxer wrote:
Lolz....no......
They take out 1 US city....no more DPRK....the shoot one missile that looks like it's headed for US territory....we intercept...then no more DPRK....stop drinking the koolaid...
We can make thousands of interceptors....how many ICBMs can the DPRK make?
Also, interceptors don't do jack against ICBMs, those suckers fly out past the ISS, that's what allows them to be intercontinental. You seem to be operating on very poor, incomplete knowledge of how modern nuclear weapons actually work, our so-called "missile defence" is a fucking security blanket, not an actual reliable counter-measure.
And no - DPRK launches a single missile that even looks like its coming for CONOUS and they're done....the leadership around son of Jong will not allow that to come to pass...for if it does...no more DPRK...its that fucking simple....
If any of what you said was true, then why did the nuclear weapons program not just not abate, but accelerate under Un's leadership? If you believe their nuclear weapons are so impotent, then why do they want them so damn bad? And no, "durr hurr crazy Kims/Norks" is not an acceptable answer, the North Korean government have proven time and time again, for all their rhetoric, they are coldly, cynically realpolitik when it comes to their actions.
