Valid ^^^

In a serious economic shake up like what is being predicted, global. People are going to lose their jobs, considering the amount of debt Americans hold is $150K, with $300K common, which includes 17K in Credit Cards, 30K in Auto Loans, and 50K in Student Loans. The cost of living is going up and wages aren't keeping up. Then realize the average American has less than $1,000 in savings.

Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. The average family has 280 dollars in cell phone bill monthly, a mortgage payment of over a Grand, a TV bill of $100, a car payment of $500, $500 in food, and add $200 for Utilities and Services. Most of us are very familiar with all these, some, like our host, Rich Uncle Pennybags have servants to pay what he considers nuisance bills. But for the rest of us commoners, one family member losing a job would put us in tough territory fast.

Go plan your garden.

I'm going to listen to this tomorrow, thanks for the tip.

The garden is planned, one solid years seeds on hand, but I literally have Tons, and Tons of problems getting my soils up to snuff. It's going to be a shitty job.
Yeah, it's a huge pain in the ass. But, with maintenance, it will never go bad again. I've developed a love/hate relationship with compost, but you have farm animals. That shit's easy. ;)

I need der Schwein running around, stinking and rooting everything up.

I'm currently looking for a local dairy to that has manure it wants to get rid of, if I can get it for free I'll hire a semi driver to get me a couple loads and fix that problem quick.

You can accomplish that with chickens as well. Just move a chicken tractor and fencing over your field for the winter. They'll tear it up and shit all over the place for you.

In the event of a collapse, you would probably see more vulnerable members of society like the elderly moving in with their children, who would care for them. In some ways it is a reversion to an older form of living, where the primacy of family was acknowledged by all. In many more traditional parts of the world, where people stay poor like Asia and Latin America this is already the norm.

My dad has done a lot of traveling. He said that family compounds are generally the norm in Southern Europe, as well. I’d like to pick up enough land for that, after the Collapse.

Look at the national parks around where I live on a map. Enter the little towns in there on Zillow. Land is pretty cheap out there. Actual houses tend to be expensive because there are a lot of nice houses. If you can transition to working remotely, I think that would be your best bet. You can get about ten acres of land in the most beautiful section of the United States this side of the Mississippi for about 60-70k. Many of the lots have creeks and you can probably dig a well no problem.

If you go into Google maps and look at the towns on sat view, you can see that there actually are a lot of homesteads up there.

Might be squatch-infested, though.

For one thing, I couldn't stand the accent for long.

Another key factor is that the family is all located either in Florida, or here. Florida's destined to be a sinking toilet bowl, so this is probably the most realistic option for me.

Take that back, asshole. You know you miss it here. If you ask nicely, maybe we will let you back into our state, assuming you are willing to do the bath salt ritual.

Fuck. No. I miss living there, like I miss the shit I just flushed.

I loved fishing on Sanibel island, and the easy tail on the beach, and that's it. The heat, the insane drugged or snobby people, the bugs, the fail-grass... no thank you.
