Besides, if nearly half of the existing US pipelines are more than 50 years old... I think it's easy to understand why there is so much leakeage. If you still you have pipelines from the 1920's in use, uh yeah, accidents and leaks can happen. (See Half Century Old Pipelines Carry Oil And Gas Load)
