I thought I remember Nuke saying he smoked weed...
Anyway, if I can paraphrase Smitty, smoking weed doesn't make you lazy, but lazy people smoke it to pass the time.
Gotta side with DB though, I personally know too many high functioning pot smokers to say its a net negative for society.

I do every blue moon but I dont make it a part of my identity to the point that I have to character assassinate people making threads that point out how dope smoking is a collective ill, likely a symptom of, if not active contributor, to the decline of Western civilization.
Intoxication is a luxury. A luxury built on decadence. And we are supposed to not question dope smokers and their contribution to the collective decline?

http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-pol- ... story.htmlBillionaire activists like Sean Parker and George Soros are fueling the campaign to legalize pot
Observers say the outpouring of cash for the initiative is, in part, due to recognition by the national movement against marijuana prohibition that this may be the best chance in years to pass legalization in California, which could spark similar changes in other states.
One reason: The presidential election may draw more younger, liberal voters. In addition, legalization proponents who have differed on approach in the past have come together this year to support Proposition 64.
...
"Legal marijuana is no longer a pipe dream: It's an investment," Pitney said. "Public opinion has shifted strongly in favor of legalization, and the smart money is following the people."
Public opinion largely upheld through the jewish monopolized media.

Tell you what, I'll put down the herb when you put down the beer.

So maybe instead conclude that it's that identity-making thing that’s contributing to the decline? Identity politics, iow.TheReal_ND wrote:I do every blue moon but I dont make it a part of my identity...

Sounds like another "degeneracy" thread.
Alcohol, marijuana, crack, heroine,
Pharmaceuticals,
Sex addiction, Gambling, Binge Eating, Shopping addiction
All of these are filling the void left behind.... by our move away from tribal loyalties and religious social order....
And most of this isn't that new... except for the pharmaceuticals that have swamped our society in the last half century... and the more designer drugs.... Obesity is certainly on the rise... which may involve the "drug like" effects of food.
Is this the shadow side of the liberal world order... or of industrialization or of empire?
I'm thinking about Dan Carlin's episode on intoxicants in world history
Think the opium wars and prohibition.

Civilisation seems to be surviving plus we have a lot of great music.

I don't smoke weed.
I drink alcohol.
I've seen little that tells me weed is much worse for society that alcohol.
I've seen plenty that tells me the war on weed is worse for society than weed itself.

Its the "shadow" of libertarianism and social liberalism. No shame and no conscience anymore. Jimmy Cricket is out stoned somewhere. Weed is the perfect drug for a lot of bourgeoisie types. Zizek speaks on this subject quite well, ironically. And "Buddhism" the western type of course all fit nicely into our nihilistic "unAmerican" culture.DrYouth wrote:Sounds like another "degeneracy" thread.

I think people should smoke more weed. Puritan culture is a bitch.
