First of all, I don't like enormous dogs. A 90 pound dog is about as big as I'd ever want to go. Second, I don't care for long haired animals, not cats, not dogs, not hamsters. No idea of what their personality would be, in the description it sounds like a fairly intelligent and independant dog, which I like that part. But who needs the hassle of having a dog as big as a person ? If I wanted another person in the house I'd talk the wife into adopting that 13 year old Korean girl I've had my eye on.Kath wrote:I had a friend who had two of them. Word of caution about short-haired dogs like my American bulldog: get a really good vacuum.
The boxer's shedding is not that bad, though. Pretty much perfect in terms of grooming and cleanliness. The bulldog is a fucking a disaster.

Also, in the middle of the night, boxers will actually wrap their arms around you and hug you while they sleep.

I love those dogs, but I don't know if I'm willing to put in the time
Aren't you in LA? Don't get a Husky, they'll be miserable.

When Nerd and I go to Kansas, we stay in a room with a double bed (not a Queen.) We almost always wake up with lil' (not little) Peanut in between us. Lil guy knows how to open the bedroom door and there's no lock on this bedroom. It seems like Peanut gets half the bed, and we each get 1/4th.Speaker to Animals wrote:Also, in the middle of the night, boxers will actually wrap their arms around you and hug you while they sleep.
Wouldn't trade it though. Boxers are awesome.

Why are there no pitties on the list?
One of my kids enticed me into going to a dog fest to look at a rescue dog she had been taking care of. I asked about it, she kept saying he was a really nice friendly dog. I'm expecting happy mutt. I get there and meet an enormous cane corso, who never stops scanning the crowd the entire time just in case it has to kill a threat. It would eat the corgi I'm apparently supposed to own.

Pit bulls are great little dogs.
Cane corso is a great breed, but you need to really know big working breeds. Foster for a while to find out if that is for you. Also, if this dog has a rough past, let somebody with experience adopt him.

People always try to advocate for pit bulls.
And then there’s this;

I’ll pass on all that. Pit bull advocates are the “dindu nuffins” of the canine world.

Pits are tiny to me.
They are the size of my midget boxer, maybe 65 lbs.
That came corso was probably around 100 lbs and it would utterly destroy a pit bull if it attacked mommy.

The pit bulls usually seem to kill kids and the elderly. Still, when your breed is responsible for 92% of the dog inflicted fatalities I’m not hearing any noise about how you’re so “misunderstood“ and “demonized”.
Nope.
Nope.
