Homosexual people have been persecuted for centuries, they were in the concentration camps, and are still facing persecution on a much larger degree than many other groups targeted by the nazis. Worst of it all, they were still being imprisoned for breaking anti-gay nazi laws in Germany, after the Third Reich had fallen.

So, the gay people were forced to serve out their sentence, which they got under nazi law. And were refused compensation. They weren't pardoned until 2002 by the German government.
