It might have the revenue, it's not proper best on best national teams though. The World Cup has gimmick teams, it's no Canada Cup, and until it is, fuck the World Cup too, and the horse it rode in on.Smitty-48 wrote:Leafs Nation is already subsidizing half the NHL, we're not subsidizing the Olympics on top, Leafs Nation wants the salary cap to go up, the Olympics is not helping with that, the NHL World Cup is, NHL World Cup is hockey related revenue, and hockey related revenue is what Leafs Nation is looking for, if the Olympics ain't paying up, I'm not sending muh Auston to play for them, and if muh Auston is not playing, there's nothing to watch, simple as that.
Nothing but special snowflakes, here.

We already have a venue for professional hockey players to get paid to compete. Why would the IOC pay hockey players to compete in what was intended to be a competition for amateurs?
If you like professional hockey, watch the professional hockey games.

To be honest with you I don't think hockey should even be in the Olympics. Same with football, tennis, golf and several other sports. An olympic gold should be the pinacle of a sport. If a world cup winners medal or a grand slam win is more important in your sport then your sport has no place in the Olympics.
In feild hockey the biggest accolade is a gold medal at the Olympics, in ice hockey it is not so the Olympics doesn't need you.

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

There is no Canada Cup Kath, you act like there is, but there isn't. There is no proper venue for the best of the best professional hockey players to play for their national teams, not even close.Kath wrote:We already have a venue for professional hockey players to get paid to compete. When did I act like that? I'm not in charge of what they call the award. I think it's called the Stanley cup? People get paid to play hockey to compete for this award, yes?StCapps wrote:There is no Canada Cup Kath, you act like there is, but there isn't. If you think there should be a second championship cup called Canada Cup, stop watching sports and go out and make it happen. (just kidding on that last part)

The Stanley Cup is not best of the best playing for their national teams. Not the same. World Cup is a money grab gimmick fest, and IIHF World Championship excludes the best players on NHL playoff teams, because of when the tournament takes place, during the middle of the NHL playoffs.Kath wrote:When did I act like that? Bring back the Canada Cup, and I won't give two shits about the Winter Olympics not allowing NHL players to participate, until then fuck the IOC.
I get no real best of the best playing on their national team hockey tournament, for god knows how long, and it's already been four years since the last one of those, it's supreme fucking bullshit.

Yeah, OK, fine, I hate the Olympics anyways, it's the Adolf Hitler Memorial Sports Extravaganza, Jimmy Stewart could firebomb the Olympics into the stone age and I wouldn't shed one tear.Montegriffo wrote:To be honest with you I don't think hockey should even be in the Olympics. That being said, the biggest money maker for the Olympics, is the Americans, and if the IOC thinks they are going to get more Americans viewing the games, without the real deal Team USA NHL players, good luck to them, without muh Auston, they ain't got nothin', meanwhile, I'll be watching muh Auston play while the stupid Hitlerympics are on some other channel, and when the Leaf game is over, I'll be switching to Netflix, I ain't got no time for no Spengler Cup wannabe shit.

Never mind I got the Marlies in first place in the AHL right now too, I got plenty of hockey to watch, NHL, AHL, OHL, IIHF, who needs the wannabe Spengler Cup run by Hitlerville? Not me.
Muh Auston needs to be focused on one thing, preparing to face the Boston Bruins in round one, that's it, that's all, pay no mind to Hitlerville.
