To be honest with you I don't think hockey should even be in the Olympics. Same with football, tennis, golf and several other sports. An olympic gold should be the pinacle of a sport. If a world cup winners medal or a grand slam win is more important in your sport then your sport has no place in the Olympics.
In feild hockey the biggest accolade is a gold medal at the Olympics, in ice hockey it is not so the Olympics doesn't need you.

The Stanley Cup is not best of the best playing for their national teams. Not the same. World Cup is a money grab gimmick fest, and IIHF World Championship excludes the best players on NHL playoff teams, because of when the tournament takes place, during the middle of the NHL playoffs.

Bring back the Canada Cup, and I won't give two shits about the Winter Olympics not allowing NHL players to participate, until then fuck the IOC.

Yeah, OK, fine, I hate the Olympics anyways, it's the Adolf Hitler Memorial Sports Extravaganza, Jimmy Stewart could firebomb the Olympics into the stone age and I wouldn't shed one tear.
