Also, and God-forbid we let Nick drag us down Red Herring Lane with his pointless changes in subject, but even his red herring is wrong. While crime is slightly correlated with poverty, it's much more correlated to race. To wit: poor whites do not commit anywhere near the amount of violent crime as, for example, equivalently poor blacks. You can wander down a random gravel road in Harlan county and walk back out unscathed. That's not so in many inner city neighborhoods populated by blacks..

Not that I feel like going down yet another random tangent from the original point. I just wanted to point out how stupid that particular tactic truly is. The actual point here is that these nonwestern immigrants really don't integrate well here, they come with huge amounts of poverty themselves (so even if you want to accept Nick's false cause of violent crime, you'd still have to side against further immigration from these places), and we really don't benefit AT ALL from them immigrating here.

Immigration to America is not the right of anybody and we damned well should adjust our immigration policy according to how well various immigrant groups actually fair here. If they are likely to live in poverty, require welfare and assistance, and commit disproportionate amounts of crime, then they should fucking stay in their home countries. Why should we import that garbage into our homes and communities??
