You make fair points. My point is that unpredictable things can happen. Anything could happen, a slip, an inadvertent head collision that cuts an eye could change ANY fight dramatically.

Frankly, I think you are making my point with your confidence on Mayweather taking down McGregor easily. That's what is expected, anything else is a failure for Mayweather and a win for McGregor. Buster Douglas was never in Tyson skill level, but lightning struck.

Nothing will happen. People don't like the rule changes as it is. If the organizations neuter the sport, the revenue from the fans will drop.

Soon only poor people will grow up playing these sports as intended to be played while the people with more money play a neutered version. The dynamic will become even more like gladiatorial combat
