He made 2 mistakes

1. Shooting her at the school. If he was going to murder-suicide he should have done it at home or her home or something
2. Using too big of a gun. The kids were behind her and were killed/injured by the bullets penetrating both bodies

Yeah, you are from California.

1 Student dead, one teacher dead... it happened at A SCHOOL! By all definitions it is a school shooting. It may not be student aggravated, but it is a school shooting.

2. Are you daft?! You honestly don't know your calibers... a high powered .22 can go through a person, the same can be said with a 5.56 round, and others, that are not large. A large caliber round such as a .45 or a .50 (desert eagle) actually can penetrate through a person, but it would have significant loss of momentum unless it is a magnum round which means that it has more power, but the size of the round still can't break the laws of physics.

If the round was a .50 or a magnum round, the kids that were shot would both be dead... for once a bullet hits a target it looses its shape, and starts to tumble. The momentum would still be great enough to do severe damage to anyone it hits behind them. If anything it would enter the body and ricochet throughout the body till it lost momentum... if it didn't get lodged in a bone first.

This is not up for debate, this is gun physics, but living in CA, I am sure you wouldn't know that...
I should have said "too powerful" instead of "too big"

Despite whatever preconceived notions you have about me, I am well aware how guns work and ballistic science. You don't grow up with a marksmanship instructor/hunter safety instruction father without picking up a little but thanks.

And "school shooting" is how you define it. For me, a school shooting is when you purposely target students to spread terror. The students were not targeted purposely, they were collateral damage
Did the shooting happen at a school? Yes or no?

Yes = School Shooting
No = Shooting elsewhere

As for the rest, no gun is too powerful, or too big, it is a tool, meant to be used correctly...

No, this doesn't need to carry the terrorist stigma of a "school shooting"

Especially because the two words "school shooting" are the easiest to milk to get people to agree to the two words "gun control"

If you like guns, you don't want this to be a "school shooting"

California and Mass have some of the strongest gun laws in the US. If this person, a felon can get a gun, perhaps more gun laws aren't the answer?

Hey gun crowd, if you want to keep your guns, just hush while we sweep this one under the rug.

Better yet, figure out how he got through the security and steps to "protect" the people from things like this from happening... without raising flags... seriously, this isn't rocket science...

Well, yeah, that's the prudent and intelligent thing to do but we're not talking about a prudent and intelligent populace here

No, but we are paying people to investigate, and in turn we should expect them to be prudent and intelligent.
