Healthcare is not a difficult technical, financial or managerial problem to solve. We simply have a group of very rich individuals who refuse to support it because they will bear a lot of the burden. They want to be able to leave as much money as possible to their heirs to keep the dynasty going.

Actually I think it's less than that... I think it's rich people in DC that don't want to deal with the situation...Martin Hash wrote:Healthcare is not a difficult technical, financial or managerial problem to solve. Rand Paul does a good job of pointing out that the GOP Bill is fucked because it doesn't deal with Healthcare costs. Just who we are going to bone to pay for it. He gives some good short term things to try to help out folks in need who've been lied to and F'd over by the broken dreams of the soiled sheets that was the Obamacare Love Affair.

The bigger problem here is that a significant number of republicans in Congress basically worship Mammon. They care more about their batshit libertarian free market ideology than they do about their own constituents. They possess little pragmatic faculties and absolutely no foresight into how this issue is evolving. Most Americans are sick of this broken, corrupt health care system we have. The people who are fucking it up are the bought-out senators and congressman like Paul Ryan and, in the last round of this bullshit, Joe Lieberman.
But now watch how all the democratic representatives will be like, "duh, we should just have a public option", when they were precisely the ones who could have created that eight years ago but failed to when the insurance donations came rolling into their campaign coffers.

Who are these "batshit libertarian free market" ideologues? Name any of them, I gotta find out what they are up to.Speaker to Animals wrote:The bigger problem here is that a significant number of republicans in Congress basically worship Mammon. Trump should just throw Paul Ryan and his shitty Health Care plan under the bus. If he can find a way to do that while fooling Ryan into believing that he's still on his side, that would be optimal, but if he backs this plan to the hilt and finds a way to cram that shitty plan through, then Trump will have fallen for the same trap that cost Obama all his political capital by cramming through ObamaCare. If Trump wants the Democrats to come roaring back in the 2018 mid-terms, then one way to do that is to pass RyanCare.

I agree with all this, but unfortunately, it looks like most of the "public servants" will remain in office chowing down all those sweet bribes, or "donations" while finding more way to explain why it's just so, so hard to solve this mess.Speaker to Animals wrote:The bigger problem here is that a significant number of republicans in Congress basically worship Mammon. It only the Congress, supposedly the head of the most powerful branch of government. It use to be powerful, and usually effective. Now it's full of political chihuahuas too busy yapping campaign slogans, fund raising, and avoiding any real actions. Because that means taking the responsibilities of their job seriously, and opening these man-children to political attack.
I ask why would one would go through all the efforts needed to win office and the responsibilities it entails, if they didn't intend to do their job. Who am I kidding? It's all about the bribes, and sinecures.
