Until 2004 Harvard didn't have an Email backup system... and I know this first hand. I went for a job there, got it, and was let go the day I started because my boss was stated as incompetent, and let any, and everyone goes that was under him, independent of his decisions or not.

The reason, the email server crashed and they lost a decade+ of email history.

The funny thing was that I asked that in the interview about any backup servers, and they specifically said "We haven't had a need for it."

So yeah, if a university worth billions didn't have a valid backup system, why do you think a company like Garmin should?
