How to report COVID for both NY state Heath, and CDC for the Feds.

Real world example how I report it.

Every encounter is a legal instrument for both the State and Federal gov’t to report communicable disease.

For a positive COVID:

Must report to the NY State Dept of health: Your demographic plus positive result with be the only diagnosis reported, by state law.

For the Federal Government (medical coder remember); Same thing but report it to the CDC.

No actual code in ICD-10 book outlining COVID

ergo no COVID exists.

For the Zika virus we had all the coding necessary to report that to both agencies.

Think of the movie “V for Vendetta “ substitute Tax records with Medical records. That’s the sham the POTUS and you’re state government is conducting. Add telework, good luck getting a live person to conduct an actual health investigation.

Should I mention my x-wife is the data unit director for TB, which I report any positive TB I run across, by state law.

I’ll answer any question so as long as it’s pertains to COVID and how I must report it.

Interesting. So basically, the way you report a positive infection is that you report the person's demographic and then their positive test result, but since there is no COVID code in the ICD-10, I'm assuming you just have to add it in a comments section?

How fast is it to add new codes to the ICD-10 book? My first thought was, "Oh, maybe it takes time and needs to go through committees or something to get approved before it was added to the ICD-10."

We are 15 years behind when it comes to International Classification of Diseases volume 10.

Remember Zika that had an alpha numeric code because we knew it to be caused by mosquitoes and thus found in the A section of the table. Everything can be verified by a blood test.

COVID is found in the “U” section as in unknown symptoms caused the spread.

Ergo treat COVID the same as the flu. Including using a Lysol disinfect for maximizing your chances of contracting it.

Check out the Australian public heath for TB. They have all the code combinations, just like COVID.

There isn’t a sure fire lab test to determine COVID, ergo no procedure and is a junk code.

HCPCS - prosthetics/durable medical equipment/pharma tables.

Zika can cause death, COVID not so much; like flu, COVID causes pneumonia, fever, secondary exacerbation, etc., but it’s not a cause of death.

That fine doc. But I’m the guy that gets you paid in full by whatever insurance the patient has. Including Medicare/Medicaid.

I’m the one that know which dx should be primary for maximum reimbursement.
