You don't happen to think it will look like China, but you can only consolidate and expand government power over a disarmed and passive populace for so long until the differences are more cosmetic than material.
Well, sure it's safe to say that. Since we were different from the start of your independence, that ought to be obvious. Capitalism, democracy, classical liberal ideas... those have been European from their inception. They are not in danger of being replaced by Communism, or disappearing because of reduced contact with Americans.

Don't know where you get the "passive" populace notion from. What do you base that on? Americans strike me as more of a people who put up with alot of shit from their government, without even contemplating changing how their system works.

The history of revolutions tend to show that the State banning weapon ownership, did not bother the rebels. They found weapons no matter what the law said. True rebels don't require written permission from the State to rebel and seize the weapons it needs to burn down their illegitimate government. If you are rebels, rebel.

You're joking aren't you?
We look like America now.
McDonalds and KFC on every highstreet, American films and TV watched by everyone, American music on every radio, blue jeans on every ass.
The only thing we don't do is drive around in your awful cars or drink your terrible beer...

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Good Example.
I would say we reinvented the Japanese on August 6th, 1945.

Were any American citizens ever subjected to torture, or claimed to have been subjected to it, in those torture programs?

You really know how to keep your eye on what matters.

Hey guys, I know we're throwing people in jail for saying mean things online, and our healthcare system is murdering children, but we've got fried chicken. That makes us practically American, right?

One of those statements is correct.

No idea. The torture programs didn't end with Obama. That's a fairytale. We just outsourced them and moved them to isolated corners of the globe.
