Re: BREAKING NEWS
Maintaining this level of readiness is taxing on an economy. We just did a system conversion here at work and I gotta make a ton of butter to keep up. The guns will have to fall silent for a while. #PowderAlwaysDryAlexander PhiAlipson wrote:Sounds like someone's tired of winning--so soon? There's more winning to be done, man. Re: BREAKING NEWS
Quick debunking of the most egregious lies:
False. They ruled at least three important matte concerning to the main points brought forward by the parties involvedSCOTUS didn't rule on anything, it will be judged only in October
1) only parties with pre existing relationship (familiar or comercial) can bring forward suits meaning no "take alien as client then sue on his behalf", no states suing because hypothetical "rocket scientists and brain surgeons" from those countries can be invited to give lectures
2) only the letter of the EO can be used as evidence, not the context surrounding it meaning "it would be legal under Obama but Trump said a mean thing so fuck the constitution"was BTFO
3) the injunction was too broad in scope and, because of 1) must be obtained on a case by case basis and can't block the implementation neither of the ban not of the other clauses (50k cap on refugees, prioritizing "persecuted religious minorities" meaning Syrian Christians)
All in all the summary is:
-travel ban is back to affecting the tens of millions of people in those six countries
-the low thousand of people that can find standing can sue but it's the discretion of the executive or the victory in the long drawn case that can grant that one person (not a group or a class of person) entry.
The DHS can always find another reason other than the EO to deny entry though and they are already doing it.

seems pretty thin.Alexander PhiAlipson wrote:Even that semi-comatose Ginsberg must've sworn off her vodka and xanax cocktails long enough to realize that part of the US Code which reads, essentially, The President can ban anyone, or any group, at anytime, for any reason, from migrating to the US... was written very clearly.

that could mean anything.Alexander PhiAlipson wrote:Tile 8, Chapter 12, US Code 1182GrumpyCatFace wrote:"Migrating" is not the same thing as "traveling".Alexander PhiAlipson wrote:Even that semi-comatose Ginsberg must've sworn off her vodka and xanax cocktails long enough to realize that part of the US Code which reads, essentially, The President can ban anyone, or any group, at anytime, for any reason, from migrating to the US... was written very clearly.
Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate. Whenever the Attorney General finds that a commercial airline has failed to comply with regulations of the Attorney General relating to requirements of airlines for the detection of fraudulent documents used by passengers traveling to the United States (including the training of personnel in such detection), the Attorney General may suspend the entry of some or all aliens transported to the United States by such airline.
Better?
