I once heard a story that in the late 1940s and throught the USSR history there after allowed people who were Jewish to immigrate to Isreal because of WWII (aka The Holocaust) and also they wanted to get rid of their Jewish population to make there country more socialists without appearing to the world they were similar to Hitler. Some families who were not Jewish claimed to be Jewish jyst so they can leave the USSR .

That's absurd on the face of it. Two things:
1) The government of the USSR was essentially dominated by Jews. If they wanted to convince the world the were more "socialist" because there were less Jews residing there they sure did a terrible job. Some people, including Hitler, have been convinced for a hundred years Bolshevism is a Jewish invention.
2) Communist Russia discouraged leaving immigration. Doesn't look good if people are leaving communist paradise does it? Though I know a lot of Jews did leave for Israel anyway and it's not unreasonable they weren't stopped by the Jewish Communist leaders.

Heh. You ever heard about the Catholics carrying out traditional religious traditions in the basement finding out that those are actually Jewish traditions passed down through the generations from their Jewish ancestors who had to pretend to be Catholic? Can't remember where I heard it. Funny story.

Notice that the biggest segment came from former Soviet Union, or remnants of Imperial Russia, where pogroms against them had been ordinary. And also what is important to notice is the migration from other parts of the Middle East. The emigration of the Soviet Jews is important as that changed the whole demographics of Israel.

Maybe. It was a thing I heard where two office workers were comparing their Christmas traditions, and after the Christian explained hers, the Jew she was talking to told her that was a Jewish tradition. It unfolded from there.

Back to the topic, I think most educated Americans feel bad for the Syrians.....but are reluctant to risk WWIII with the Russians.....even if the Russians were a non-factor, Americans are tired of the balkin nature of middle eastern peoples to fight each other as opposed to unifying.....in short, I believe that most educated Americans believe the Middle East is a lost cause.....

Isolationism is our native instinct. It wasn't until it got hijacked with spreading democracy after WWII that we started practicing foreign interventionalism. Liberate until nothing left to liberate. That's why the neocons are still eying Russia.

Seems to me like Russia's statements are intended to get NATO to dump Turkey for being too much of a risk....why is Turkey in NATO again? Seems to me the Missile sites aren't worth the risk of the Turks doing something stupid.....
