French President Emmanuel Macron has said he convinced US President Donald Trump not to withdraw troops from Syria and instead commit "for the long term".

...

After Mr Macron's comments, White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said: "The US mission has not changed - the president has been clear that he wants US forces to come home as quickly as possible".

But she added that the US was "determined to completely crush" the Islamic State group and prevent its return.

"Islamic terrorism in Syria will disappear some day and then we'll go home, I tell you..." :P

He doesn't get it. Mission Accomplished, fam. We defeated ISIS and then, to make everybody happy, destroyed all the fake chemical weapons stockpiles in a fake attack. We are coming home.

So did we ever get an answer on how tariffs are going to magically fix trade from our resident Econ minor?

Indeed. The Syria attack derailed your floundering as you launched an assault on my “book knowledge”, yet failed to explain how tariffs are going to result in something new and exciting for us, despite a long historical record of hurting economies that implement them.

I don’t think I was done being schooled yet, for being a consumer of Thomas Sowell’s radical, fringe, neocon, views - which have also apparently hijacked the entire nation (wait, can you be fringe-radical and the predominant view at the same time?).

Tariffs are shit.
Forced inefficiency into the system.
It is possible to benefit from inefficiency but very little case has been made that such would be the case in this instance.

LOL

You mean the part where you guys compared our trade system in the 1980s to the 1700s? Yeah, fun times.
