That's $1364.00, there's plenty of used cars on autotrader for that, much better cars than anything you could find in 1975. There's perfectly serviceable cars for even less than that, inflation adjusted, you can find cars which would pass any inspeaction, for less than $300 1975 dollars.

The idea that you need a car in New York is absurd, I've never done anything but walk, bike, and take the transit in New York, same thing in Toronto. Whether NYC or the T-Dot, a car is a big pain in the ass, I never drive in the city, I just take the train in.

I used to be poor but I'm not now. Older got an Audi. Younger got a serviceable $5000 Hyundai. If I had to get the cheapest car on the local lot, it would have to be the $2400 one. It never occurred to me to buy a used car online.

The idea that you need a car in New York is absurd, I've never done anything but walk, bike, and take the transit in New York, same thing in Toronto. Whether NYC or the T-Dot, a car is a big pain in the ass, I never drive in the city, I just take the train in.

Depends where you live and where you work. You need a car in Staten Island and parts of Brooklyn. I lived on the Bronx border so the need for a car depended on where I was working.

bought a VW for 400 three years ago that I could have gotten for two. put a hundred in parts in it and it passed inspection.

I have three cars, but if I drove to NYC, I would just park it for the duration and walk, bike, and take the transit everywhere.
