Because you can't conceive of not having a taxable income? I'd much rather own a piece of land outright, and pay tax on money earned, than have that land under threat in perpetuity.

That's a fascinating notion, if it were progressive, since the poorer you are the higher percentage of your wealth goes to housing. We should be taxing wealth not income, and property is the only wealth that can't be offshored. But I'm sure the wealthy would figure out how to game it, they always do.

Sorry, but I agree with neither. You get taxed on what you spend or nothing at all. Income tax is theft, so are property taxes.

Property taxes allow states to reclaim property someone is paying for if they can't pay it. The state has no right to tax what has already been taxed once before.

Property tax is nothing short of a rental charge on a property. You don't pay it, you get kicked out.

Income taxes are just another way for states to get money they don't deserve.

The problem with churches not paying property taxes is that the Church could once again become the predominant property holder in our nation if things keep going the way they are going.

Back in the day, it was a shit sandwich for the aristocracy that the Church owned a shit ton of land they couldn't tax.
