The UK should now be able to cope with the spread of the covid-19 virus, according to one of the epidemiologists advising the government.

Neil Ferguson at Imperial College London gave evidence today to the UK’s parliamentary select committee on science and technology as part of an inquiry into the nation’s response to the coronavirus outbreak.

He said that expected increases in National Health Service capacity and ongoing restrictions to people’s movements make him “reasonably confident” the health service can cope when the predicted peak of the epidemic arrives in two or three weeks. UK deaths from the disease are now unlikely to exceed 20,000, he said, and could be much lower.

What we have up here behind the Iron Curtain Against American Freedom a.k.a Canada;

is a population which is totally unmartial and has never experienced war, not even on 9/11

So they are unserious about it, like it's not happening to them

it's just happening to the Americans, us usual, Canada is sure to duck it

But I mean, 40,000 Canadians served in Afghanistan 150 KIA is 0.3% killed

The death rate with this bug in Italy right now is 9.5% killed

Not an overseas military adventure which is just Americas problem serves them right

This is the first invasion of Canada since 1866

Italy's slow response and their aging population is one of the reasons for such a high death count. Not to downplay the virus, but those are factors too.

It's like Mrs Smitty is flipping out on my inlaws because they're not taking it seriously at all

business as usual

It's not going to wipe the population out, but it is still like a minefield

This is war, when you see the other guy taking a pounding, never assume that's not coming your way

You go maximum threat alert to try to win the war, but you're never guaranteed to win a war, you can be defeated

Canadians are cocky, some of them will pay dearly for it, if we told them it was landmines, they wouldn't be walking around in it

My wife gets the classified briefings and she knows I know my shit

I told her you can't save them from themselves, and my duty is to protect you, everybody else is on their own

True that. I'm trying to be the rock in our house, whilst maintaining good humor with the kids and providing my wife with the information she needs to make good decisions. She's a smart woman, so no worries here. I leave all my panic talk to you people. ;)
