It is, but the officer was just acquitted and the body cam video finally released. Pretty brutal shit.

Until we change the training and rules of engagement for LEOs this will continue to happen. The biggest thing that needs to change is the attitude the LEO lives are more important than citizens.
Reality check; the courts are not going to radically alter their position on police use of force, tactics and training are not going to radically alter anything, this will continue to happen, regardless.

When you have as many guns as you do in the US, and those guns are so free and prevalent amongst the population, the police are going to be expecting to encounter guns, and they will continue to be on a hair trigger about it, there's nothing that will alter that, other than at the margins.

There is nothing that will stop this from continuing to happen, this is the price of freedom.

You can be safe, or you can be free, but you can't be both. How many Americans have died for America to be free? Add Daniel Shaver's name to the list.

Daniel Shaver was razor sharp. That guy really couldn't cut it. He was living life on the edge of a knife. Insert Somerset Maugham joke...

You Americans are always yip yapping about freedom, well put your money where your mouths are, because this is it, you take the bad with the good, as Hal Moore said "never promised you a bed of roses".

Democracy and freedom; it's not a fuckin' cakewalk, everything has its dark side.

We did, do you remember the War of 1812 when we burned Ottawa to the ground? I'm all for doing that again if there is another Shaver style boston Massacre. How about chilling out with those excise taxes Smitty?

If you want to live with the Temperance Lady, and put safety above freedom, Canada is the place for you, but if you're gonna live in the Land of the Free, make no mistake, freedom is inherently dangerous.

I will not sit here while I Canuck living under the brutal yoke of the Hanoverian dynasty lectures me about freedom! Do us all a favor and make sure that you guys come ready for the Tampa Lightning. Next time, we won't let you off so easy!

Meh, Hedman gives the Lightning an edge, Norris Trophy caliber, but anybody is beatable in the NHL these days, with this kind of parity, basically comes down to whose goalie gets hot, and the bounces.

When you played hockey on frozen lakes, did you ever see fish beneath the ice? Did you ever have anyone fall through?

Nah, you wait till winter gets going in earnest, so it's frozen solid, and you're not looking down, that's how you get clobbered; keep your head up when you play hockey. Even if you're not playing full contact, incidental contact can still knock you the fuck out.

The hardest hit in hockey is actually the accidental one, two guys in the trolley tracks; boom.

The worst I ever got knocked out in my whole life was playing shinny on a lake, no helmet, just turned into another guy, trolley tracks, and it was like a car accident, my head hit the ice, and I was out, and when I came to, I was fucked up, I was throwing up after, like post concussion syndrome.

I was just a kid, so I shook it off, but at my age now, I'd be crippled by that.

I haven't seen much hockey, but it is quite thrilling to watch. Talk about contact sports. I played a little street hockey in middle school, but I was never any good. I can barely ice skate, so I never even tried ice hockey. The worst injury I ever got was a bruised ass from running into a guy in my cul de sac when we both skating for the puck. Still got all my teeth though.
