Jesus man! Are you mad!? If you convince people to back away from consumption we are all screwed!

We have a market sustained by faith in growth. That faith is sustained by expansion of debt financing. Even a whiff of the possibility that is ending and our skittish investor class will start pulling their cash in order to beat the curve!

Don't blame the consumers if you know which side your bread is buttered on brother!

Maybe the system needs a reset
Wait a minute... I am beginning to suspect that you just want a reshuffle because you will thrive in a pelt based economy.

Selfish. :snooty:

I look forward to trying to barter Tulip options for mint condition YuGiOh cards and poisoned water in the wasteland with my MHF buddies.

You'd think that with all the angst about it, you'd have that number right on the tip of your tongue by now, because you're not whining, no, you have an ask to make of the empire, indeed

Let's just pretend for a moment that I am the Princeps et Imperator, here's your big chance, you stand before me on the Palatine Hill in all my splendor, ear bent towards you in anticipation of the ask; which will placate you.

So, what's your number, Pleb? Spit it out.
Not really a number. I'm not sure Universal Basic Wage won't ruin our society, though I'd love to test it out somehow.

What I think is needed is systemic changes.

Health Care is probably number 1 in my opinion.

Other things that I think would help would be a liveable wage law, though Hash seems to think those are terrible. It seems to work for the Nordic countries though.

Reform of our "poverty crime" laws to be more in line with income.

That's off the top of my head.

Well, if you can't talk turkey, then sorry to have to tell you, but you're just complaining for the sake of complaining at that point, by default.

"Wanh-wanh, it's not what I want, but I want what I want when I want it"

OK, what is it that you want, exactly?

"Wanh-wanh, I don't know"

OK, fuck off then.

There is no number.

I ask that you stop subsidizing defunct businesses, stop propping up monopolies, and ban the sycophants from your palace. Take your coin from those that have it, not squeezed from the blood of the peasants.

Well, unfortunately, the Plebs vote with their feet for a Welfare-Warfare State, for I too defy the will of the masses, as they walk rather than they talk, would be to defy the true will of the Silent Majority rather than you rabble rousing miscreants on the margins, if you can give me a number which will placate you in payment to the aforementioned filthy beggars, that can be arranged, but if you insist on trying to overthrow the Empire itself, no Preatorian Guard will I need to tear you to peices, as I could just throw you to the mob to be dragged upon a hook and tossed ritually from the Tarpean Rock.

Yes you could. But you'll be lined up behind me shortly.

The mob is being misled by your hyperbolic fear-mongering of The Outside - this is no random movement. You've quite literally scared them out of their wits.

I'll take my chances, as unlike you, I am a Praetor, a good death I fear not, so the Tarpean Rock my fate would not be, if it ever came to that, my own sword would I fall upon, unto elysium in the next world to come, in the meantime, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to the gardens to tend to my roses, the guard will show you out, good day.
