All the guys I knew in the Legion said the same thing.

The guys who quit or go AWOL, are just guys that found out that it wasn't what they were expecting.

They thought it was some sort of super commando unit, but ended up in the middle of nowhere in Africa.

Like most of what you do in the Legion is guard duty of one sort or another.

You protect French interests overseas.

For example the role of 3e REI is to guard the European Space Agency launch site in French Guyana.
