I don't bash you for your creative writing, I wish there was more of that here.
Thing is, I'm basically an oversized boy, I'm not into that girly shit, why can't you write something that boys like?
Because you don't know what the book is about, except by my quip about it, you are assuming it's "girly"... far from it, but you can assume all you want... and be wrong.
Are there explosions? Does anyone get shot?
Football and porno and books about war.
Sex and drugs and rock n' roll.
Weapons and violence and heroes kicking ass and taking names.
Strategy and tactics and military historical references
Cool kit and technology, bad ass formations and units of warfighters.
Men of honor, codes of honor, fights for honor.

You're not making me want to read it.
It's up to you, if you're not going to sell it to me, I'm not buying. /shrugs.

I think there's a lot of talent on this board for a collab, if everybody threw in their bit.
Somebody says "here's a novel I wrote about My Little Pony coming of age"?
Hard pass.

Bear in mind also that what sells a novel is actually the front and back cover.
You look at the cover art, you think that looks cool, then you read the hype on the back cover.
If it still sounds cool, you buy it.
If it's My Little Pony; hard pass at the front cover.

It's like this is what I'm reading right now
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/40448.Thirteen
It's not a masterpiece, but it's got all the elements I like, starting with testosterone.

I'm not even against writing from the female perspective
That's pretty much the whole Culture series which I love.
But Banks is the exception not the rule, he was a master at it
And also it was always kick ass with plenty of testosterone too
Notice that the main character is usually a chick, and the ships were always males
The hotness was between the chicks and the ships. It's sexy, sexy chicks, sexy ships.
The chicks get themselves into trouble, damsel in distress, the warships come to their rescue.
Keep it simple.
The reveal is; how badly is the warship going to fuck the villains up for messing with the sexy chicks,
The rest of it is the Culture itself, the universe where Banks expounds his treatise on libertarianism and anarchy.
That's the cerebral part. You get hooked in by the sexy chicks, you stay for the anarchic universe.

Another book I love is Market Forces by Richard K. Morgan.
It's a lefty screed against capitalism, future corporate dystopia
But the hook is; It's the Road Warrior.
Except instead of Mad Max being in an Australian post nuclear wasteland?
He's a corporate raider driving a hi-tech death mobile in a futuristic London,
And there is a shitload of steamy hot sex, he's good at writing that too.

It's always been a train wreck this is revisionist history. If it wasn't the DCF where trek and DB would ankle bite each other while Harry snob posted for a hundred pages it was the Hokey Wars on this forum against an insane cat lady that pegs her husband.
I don't know what you are looking for. Maybe I'm not speaking to you in particular but yeah we have some people sniping here but it's the same as it ever was nobody can make someone shut up here I don't even think we have a mod anymore.
Martin himself this was an open environment, and if the diatribe that SwA has gotten away with for a while, I don't know what is.
Either way, I got another 7 to 10K to finish on this last chapter, then I can start working on my blog a bit more... while trying to pawn off my book.
It is what it is, some people here are anything but civil.
Civil is for strangers you aren't trying to piss off. Chirping is for people shooting the shit in a virtual pub where everyone knows each other and is just fucking around for fun.
Civility is overrated, suck it up buttercup, if you want to be one of the boys, you better be able to take a chirp and give it back without whining like a little bitch every time you happen to be the target of the chirping.
I can be a fucking asshole if that is what you want, I hold back because I am not going to be like a SwA... I refuse to degrade the conversation to a childish banter. If you want to shitpost, go to reddit.

Then you are mistaken, this isn't written from any female perspective, the main character is female... yes, but it's anything but how she sees her life. If you are truly interested in finding out more, I can let you see 10 chapters of what I'm writing. If you deem it's "girly" then go for it, I'll let you piss all over the topic when I create it, but I somehow don't think you'll be able to.
Unlike most people here, I am willing to put my money where my mouth is...

That's not how it works, that's why novelists have agents and promoters and do marketing.
You don't tell me take it or leave it, you have to sell it to me.
I'm not plowing through ten pages never mind ten chapters, and neither is anybody else, unless you've sold them.
You'd be better off just throwing a short story up on the board here so I can see If I like your style.
I'm not buying without marketing, nobody does.
