It's not either of those.
Figured a working woman like you could have put your point across.

You’re not my kind of working man. I doubt you could tell Roselli from Prima.Okeefenokee wrote:It's not either of those.

Vengeance is a dish best served at the Boar's Nest.
I remember that one time when Boss Hogg got his, but good, courtesy of the working man's ballad.

I starting to get a laugh out of you, but that's become expected.Hanarchy Montanarchy wrote:Other than defining the words, I don't really know what you are asking.PartyOf5 wrote: Please explain what you mean by "upend expectations".
But when was the last time you got a good laugh out of something you expected?
You've decided to use some vague, broad term to define all of comedy. Because you won't more accurately define your term, you are free to twist any example of comedy to fit your term.
You're playing a game with a rule of "whomever scores the most points wins", but when asked to define how points are scored, you can't. Only that once a move is made you will then be able to determine if that move scored a point.

If all comedy upends expectations, it must only be comedy the first time around. Subsequent experiences would be expected, and therefore not comedy.

True. Once you watch a comedy, it ceases to be comedy.
“Hey, did you see that comedy ‘Dumb and Dumber’?”
“It’s not a comedy, I already saw it so I know all the gags.”
“My bad.”
The available vectors to attack the “one comedy” theory are numerous indeed. But to what end?
I mean, we can only be so right.
There’s nothing past 100%.
