Exactly, only the Fed can afford a billion dollar pick-up truck which breaks down every time it rains, that's what it comes down to, with our finite resources, we can't afford to blow money on most of the crap that the Pentagon buys.

Some US kit is best in the world, no doubt, but they buy a ton of garbage along with that, just throwing contracts out there for stuff which they don't need, and which doesn't work.

Also bear in mind, we blow a lot more money on the troops, like care and feeding type stuff, the Canadian military is the best paid, best fed, best clothed, best housed military in the world, so we waste a lot of money on creature comforts.

Not that I'm complaining, the US military is cool n' all, but I wouldn't have traded places with them, just on the paycheque alone, exchange rate adjusted, my American counterpart made almost half what I made, they got all the bells and whistles in terms of aircraft carriers or whatever, but man do they get gypped come payday.

FIFTEEN! Promotion points for scout staff sergeants are at 15 out of 800 and there are eleven scouts in the entire army willing to step up to the plate.

Well this is the thing, military power is not really about the kit, it's about the personnel, like, if Canada needs to go to war, we can always go buy some kit, but if the people who are using it are not up to snuff, we're gonna get our asses kicked regardless.

The power of the US military has never really been about fancy weapons, it was always about logistics, and American esprit de corps.
