Exactly, tanking is done, there's no more tanking now, the Av's are actually loaded with Mackinnon, Rantanen, Jost, Makar, Girard, Timmins, there's no reason to take a desperate stab at Dahlin, right now Minnsota has a 1% chance at him, you're not going to bottom out with this Avs team now, don't want to get caught in between, after Dahlin, there are no sure things, and look at Girard, he was a second round pick, 47th overall.

We have no goaltending though, we could still blow it, especially if Varly tears his groin, the "lower body injury" issues have already begun, it's just Bernier is hot right now, and we both know that can't last.

It's like the Leafs just played Dermott tonight, second round pick, and he looks NHL ready, I don't think Babs is sending him down, I think he just took someones job.

Same boat as everybody, who has two number one goalies? Bernier's not that bad, if Varlamov goes down, Bernier can hold the line, he's not a number one, but he's a pretty good number two. With Bernier, it's a question of number of games, he's not a 65 game starter, but over a short stretch Bernier is fine.

It's good thing the ZJ pairing is starting to gel so well and both have improved so much this year. We're gonna need them to help hold the line, especially once Varly tears that groin. Last 10 games or so, they've been real good, and not against chumps either.

Bernier is actually one of the best backups in the league, the problem in Toronto was that he had to be the savior and he couldn't be, but he's not actually a bad goalie, Bernier was brilliant at times with the Leafs, he just couldn't handle the pressure of having to save a team which could not be saved.

Yeah that's Bernier alright, recently he's been brilliant.

I'd be more worried about Johnson going down, Johnson is actually playing like a horse right now, Johnson is back to being Johnson, losing Johnson would hurt more than losing Varlamov.

Johnson is injury prone too, true that, and vastly more important than Varly as well.
*knocks on wood*

Barrie will be back soon enough, just a broken hand. Compher will be back any game now, he's our best forward penalty killer, deadly shorthanded offensively, don't sleep on JT, 200-foot game, big heart, depth character guy.

With Varlamov back to being Varlamov and Johnson back to being Johnson, and Mackinnon on a roll, if everybody gets healthy, they can actually do some damage.
