There is no solution that will fix the entire problem, so bashing The Wall for not fixing the entire problem makes no sense. It's a team effort, many measures working in concert will reduce the problem, folks need to stop pretending the entire plan is only The Wall and nothing will accompany it, that is not the case.

Facial recognition software will render the problem moot for all intents and purposes, every US citizen will be in the database, every authorized visitor will be in the database, and anybody who doesn't fall into those two categories will be rapidly detected and marked out for arrest.

Still need people to arrest them, and sometimes it's easier to arrest them while they are illegally crossing the border as opposed to after they are already here hiding from facial recognition software. Border security is not obsolete, as Kath suggests.

The Chinese did a test exercise of their system, they got a foriegn journalist to agree to be the target, so it couldn't be said that they rigged it, they told her to hide in Beijing somewhere, city of 25 million, when the clock started for the test, took the police 6 minutes to catch her.

There will jobs, bennies and housing, it will just be harder to get, you didn't eliminate the incentive, you just reduced it.

See, when you have saturation coverage, you don't need that many cops, you can get rid of a huge number of expensive cops, because the system spots anomalies, and doesn't bother with anybody else, unless they are marked out for some reason, arrest warrants, etc.

Landlords who fail to authenticate a resident's legal standing will lose their apartment complex.
Government employees who hand out goodies without authenticating an applicant's legal standing will be fired and fined.

Remove the incentive. This "technology" goes back to the beginning of time.

Doesn't work that way, the computer is tracking data points, looking different doesn't matter, her face was entered into the database, it found her face in less than two minutes, but it didn't see a non-Chinese face, the computer is just looking at a set of data points.

IIRC, she was Asian anyways.

Make it illegal and no one will break the law. You crack me up Kath. You reduced the incentive, you didn't remove it, that's why other solutions working in concert, will reduce the incentive even further.
