Well if everything you guys could use is already in position and ready to go, and waiting for more military assets to get in position to strike would simply be redundant, then I guess now is the optimal time to strike. But if that isn't the case, then y'all should wait until that is the case.Speaker to Animals wrote:I've seen it happen once before. Most people don't even know it happened.

There is no pre-emptive nuclear "option", and never has been. Go beyond the initial shock of the event, and picture the political fallout.Smitty-48 wrote:I'm not talking SEAL Team Six here, I said Neptune Spear wouldn't work, but I'm not talking about Neptune Spear, this is not about killing one dude, this would have to be a comprehensive counterforce option, they do have nuclear weapons, it's not Osama Bin Laden, and while I'm not talking Castle Bravo, make no mistake, I am talking nuclear war, limited, theater, tactical weapons employed at the operational level for strategic effect.GrumpyCatFace wrote:Funny... Destroy Pyongyang and every nuclear weapons facility we know about in North Korea. Like very soon.
They are WAY fucking ahead of schedule.
How things change...
The US becomes an international pariah, instantly. An unstable dictator upon the earth, to be opposed by all. We are the world's greatest badass, sure, but we're not invincible. First come the sanctions and grandstanding in the halls of the UN, then military alliances shift around the globe. Our former allies, other than our pets, will all take a collective step back, Russia and China will form an alliance to oppose NATO. Within a week or two, protests swamp the capitals of the world, Americans are demonized and attacked in the streets, and the curtain draws closed on western civilization.
Your military solution is super-great. But you would make yourself the last CinC in American history.

I think the problem would be the Navy more than the Air Force. It takes a while for them to get there if they are not already in position.
I wouldn't put troops on the ground if I could help it and make it clear to China we will not be going in there if we can help it. It would likely be a massive air and naval campaign.

Problem is, when you warm it up, you can only hold it there for a short time, the counterforce would be very complex, a lot of moving parts, and it has to be stealthy on approach, can't telegraph it, so once you're at the startline, then you have to go, both to achieve surprise, but also because you can't keep it straining at the leash.StCapps wrote:Cross all the t's, dot all the i's, get all their ducks in a row, and then fuck their shit up. America has that luxury and not seeing any risk in them waiting that long to do so.
So even if you want to wait, whenever you decide to go, you have to put it in motion to H-hour, and remember, you cant alert the NK's, so the more times you do this and then abort, the more likley they're going to get wind of it and then go operational, immediate action,
They may not have the equation solved for the hydrogen bomb to the CONUS quite yet, but there's lots of other things within range which they could hit, so when you decide to go, it's do or do not, you can't keep your ducks in a row indefinitely for a counterforce, you need to pick your window and be decisive about these sorts of operations.

Don't be such a drama queen, all those folks who hate America, hate America already, whoopie fuckin do, those of us who are actually with America, actually in her corner, we are with her come hell or high water, so there is no change in the balance, and any ally who was going to break and turn on America, over some B61's on the abomination in Pyongyang when that abomination raised thermonuclear sword against the CONUS, was never really your ally in the first place, so better to get it out in the open, and then we'll see who America can count on and who she can't, ain't a bad thing, bring it on.GrumpyCatFace wrote:There is no pre-emptive nuclear "option", and never has been. How exactly is a B61 different from Neptunes Spear? Because it's more likely to succeed? You're talking about a country, not a neighborhood. Even our biggest bomb wouldn't pave the whole thing, unless we launched a spread, and kicked off WW3.Smitty-48 wrote:Don't be such a drama queen, all those folks who hate America, hate America already, whoopie fuckin do, those of us who are actually with America, actually in her corner, we are with her come hell or high water, so there is no change in the balance, and any ally who was going to break and turn on America, over some B61's on the abomination in Pyongyang when that abomination raised thermonuclear sword against the CONUS, was never really your ally in the first place, so better to get it out in the open, and then we'll see who America can count on and who she can't, ain't a bad thing, bring it on.GrumpyCatFace wrote:There is no pre-emptive nuclear "option", and never has been. Besides, fat kid no doubt has a network of deep bunkers to keep himself buried in pussy and food supplies while his subjects are incinerated.
