Re: The End of Trump; the Dawning of the Age of Bolton.
Your country isn't a steel producer of any note. You don't even show up on the top fifty producers. All that steel in your country is literally from China, and you have huge stockpiles of that shit on your shores to flood American markets.
It's not as fucking bad as what Mexico did. Somebody built a drone and flew it over the actual stockpiles of Chinese steel down there.
But, yeah, both of your countries were actively colluding with China to destroy the United State's access to a strategic resource. You had this coming.
Maybe you can contract out with some American shipping companies to send all that shitty steel to Europe before they figure out your con.

Globally, Canada is the 17th largest producer of steel, but Canada is the largest steel importer in the US, no country imports more steel to the US than Canada, so when it comes to the US market, we dwarf the Chinese as a steel producer, by a factor of at least 8-to-1.
"Blah-blah-blah actively colluding" is just more wanh-wanh thumb sucking from the American Baby Nation. Somebody get them their chooch.

That's the top forty producers. None of them are Canadian.

That's by company not country, Canada is the 17th largest steel producing country, accounting for 16% of US steel imports, against only 2% from China.

And it's the same union on both sides of the border, which is why our steel is exempt from the tariffs.

Volume is one thing but can they meet ASME or ACPI specs? No? Its trash steel that might be good for a cheap knife or maybe something around the house. It doesn't belong in a refinery or an offshore rig. It's amazing that the only nations that can meet the stringent requirements needed for industrial applications are western. Sometimes eastern euro and Korean will meet specs but as a rule, most customers specify NO CHINESE MATERIAL

Because all of the major producers are in only a handful of countries, which doesn't include Cuckistan.
Mexico is probably about 17 in the space race too..

Fact is, Canadians are just going to have to show some initiative and ingenuity, and figure out something to do with all that shitty steel that doesn't involve America.

Fact is, tariffs are a tax by any other name, so you're driving the price of steel up in the US by taxing via tariffs, you've done it before under the Bush administration, and it was a big job killer, because downstream from your steel is your manufacturers, prices go up for them, production goes down, workers get laid off.Speaker to Animals wrote:Fact is, Canadians are just going to have to show some initiative and ingenuity, and figure out something to do with all that shitty steel that doesn't involve America.
Meanwhile, here in Canada, we have the best of both worlds, we're exempt your self defeating tariff tax, so we get the inflated prices for our exported steel into the US market, while retaining access to offshore steel, keeping prices low here, so our manufacturers don't take the hit. Win-win.

Hm well the people purchasing quality steel stateside for industrial applications aren't cheaping out for some chink, backyard pig iron. No, plenty of projects have failed thanks to shaving corners. Thanks BP!

Re: The End of Trump; the Dawning of the Age of Bolton.
Again, this is just another Bush admin policy warmed over, the Bushies already went for the steel tax back in 2003, ostensibly to protect 100,000 steel workers, but it ended up backfiring on the manufacturing side of things, when higher steel prices led to lower sales, less production, and inevitable job losses in a much bigger sector of the economy, and after only a year even the Bushies had to admit that it had backfired and so they dropped the tariff tax.
And you're shooting yourselves in the foot, for what again? 2% of steel imports into the US?
Stoopid.
