Theres really no common ground if someone doesn't believe in taxation. A government is an instrument of coercion by definition. The idea of liberal democracies is to limit the harm said coercion can do to the people, and to use the coercive power to improve lives of people in the nation.

In the modern world, governments can't really look at their own citizens and ignore the rest of the world. The world is far too interconnected both geopolitically, environmentally and economically. Governments of today should have an obligation to their citizens as well as other world governments.
