Here in Vegas we have an Asian district and many Mexican strip malls but, near as I can tell, other groups are allowed to open stores there, as they are peppered in. The strip mall near me with a Mexican market, ice cream shop, clothing store, etc. also has a UPS store and a pizza place.

In a smaller town, maybe the owners want their mall to be your one stop Latino strip mall, IF they are indeed refusing to lease to non-latino businesses. Perhaps that is wrong, but I'd guess it's more of a business motivation than a racial one. Agglomeration.

I'm aware of the racially driven conflicts between blacks, Latinos and Asians in LA. It's primarily among gang members. If I'm not mistaken the Irish, Jewish and Italian gangs used to butt heads too.

So anyway, if you told DSL circa 1820 that in the future we'd have a huge Papist population, Joe DiMagio would marry our blonde goddess and we'd all be eating pizza and watching Jewish comedians and most whites would have Irish or Slavic blood, what would he say? And why is that different from what you are saying?

To Nick's point. I can see major problems with importing millions of Islamic fundamentalists to Europe. But other people who are more or less the same apart from color and who chose to come to the country seem to fit in pretty well.

Europe has imported millions of Muslims BUT ONLY A TINY FRACTION OF THEM Are Islamic fundamentalists. In fact, most of the terrorist activity comes from people born in Europe and not from the recent waves of refugees. Incidentally, most of the refugees are not brought here, they travel here illegally despite the best efforts of the authorities in places like Greece and Italy.

I've not researched it extensively but what I do see is troubling. For example, I've never seen a story with the words "poll of British Muslims" that seemed very rosie. I just googled that phrase.

Also, when I say fundamentalist, I don't mean wahhabism nec. Just people who are religious fundamentalists. Like, if someone doesn't believe in suicide bombing but thinks a bunch of other crazy stuff, that's not so good.

I don't see it as a cause for optimism, I see it as a result of economic and social marginalisation. Ie if they are treated as potential terrorists and excluded from employment solely because of their faith then integration is rather hard for them to acheive.
ps it would be interesting to see figures for American christian's opinions on homosexuality.
