That lady is fucking pissed! If that's the "opening statement," I can't wait for the "summation." Bring a lot of body bags. :goteam:Nukedog wrote:

I'm so paranoid about misusing words, even talking more or less anonymously to a small group here that I looked up "moral turpitude" even though I was 99.9% sure I knew what it meant. I do that a lot.
It's amazing to me that someone delivering/writing a monologue for national TV wouldn't bother.

I don't know if casual Dems, like somebody's aunt or whatever, are really The Left. That's what I mean there.Martin Hash wrote:"The Left is composed of feminists, minorities & weirdos." - meLVH2 wrote:I think there are probably also a lot of casuals, people who are just on team Dem. and just kind of believe whatever they say and like movie stars and stuff like that.
These terms are sort of lose now, especially liberal, which means 90 different things. All of us are liberals except maybe nuke and smitty. But then almost none of us are liberals.
Anyway, there are a lot of people who want single payer, oppose unjust wars, don't want people to go to jail for weed, etc. and aren't nec. on board with all of the social stuff, particularly the crazier elements. Yeah, obviously they'll be for gay marriage overwhelmingly, but maybe not "all whites are born evil and due process is bad because rape accusations have a less than 100% conviction rate, etc."
There are also people who think North Korea did nothing wrong, and hope that there's a economic collapse so that Marx can come true. Those people also don't like the Clintons and Weinsteins of the world.

I'm actually quite liberal, I didn't leave liberalism, liberalism left me; when it veered off into totalitarianism.LVH2 wrote: All of us are liberals except maybe... smitty
Would I chuck these wannabe commies out of a helicopter? Might do, but only in defence of the liberal order, war measures in extremis.

We’re all liberals here, even Clubby.
p.s. Nuke also happens to be a White Nationalist, which is ethnocentric, just like the Identity Politics Left.

Heck, Donald Trump is a liberal, he's just beating the Democrats at their own game.

Donald Trump is to the left of Bill Clinton. That's how crazy the democrats have become.

I excluded Smitty for being a monarchist, but I know it depends on how you want your monarch served.
Trump is to the left of Clinton on some issues, like trade, for sure. Sticklers might say he's a populist, but I would re-stickle and say that it's not like NAFTA and TPP are actually fair trade agreements and opposing them is just protectionism for the sake of protectionism. It's a pretty clear cut case of corps vs. everyone.
He seems very right wing on others, but I guess that depends on how you assess things like his position on health care or the environment, and, for that matter how you assess environmentalism.
Also, for all the bluster, he hasn't started a war yet. Hillary would be going through the DTs if she was president this long without starting a war.
