The America of yore was simply more pleasant to live in because things like wars and actual hardships kept our incessant complainer demographic extremely low.

Recently there's been an explosion of incessant, useless, complainers . . . and ironically it's because things are so good in this nation that even the organisms which are clearly unfit for survival are thriving.

I think it must be hard for an American to imagine what America means to someone from a small European country. It is so large, powerful and culturaly influential. Everyone else stands in your shadow. The mere idea that America isn't great anymore is hard to grasp. If Sweden was the 51st state it would be the poorest.
At the same time we can see the suffering of the lower classes in America and it is heart wrenching. We care more about gypsy beggars from Romania than you do about countrymen who served in your wars. It's truly baffling. Perhaps that's why you've risen so high. You keep your eyes on the prize and you worship the go getter that takes care of business, come hell or high water.
We want America to still be there as a city on the end of the Yellow Brick Road. The place where you can go and perhaps succeed. If you can make it there...
We don't want you to change. You are a thousand things. New York and L.A. of course but also rural America with cowboys, BBQ and white picket fences. Apple pie, bad beer, burgers and weak coffee. movies, music and strange sports. Spectacular nature and some of the best cities on earth. All kinds of people. Such great liberty of being.
I can see America transforming from over here and even if I don't have a say I don't like it. Reading Victor David Hanson's essays about what's happening to California for example is demoralizing. I don't see any way for you to turn back the clock.
As usual the only way is forwards. You need to look at the cards you've been dealt and figure out the best way to play them.
I wish you all the best of luck and hope for the sake of the entire world you don't fuck up too bad.

Nailed it. There are less things worth complaining about than ever, yet there are more complaints than ever. First world problems incarnate.

Well, even in the context of those wars, and the explosion of incessant complainers with the drafting of the privileged classes to go to Vietnam, and, yes, the associated lies involved with bringing things to that point; still some super bad assed non complainers out there in the jungles of Indochina, whatever disaster was impending, there was still valour in the quagmire none the less, and in terms of Liberty Rambo, well, there was Major Charles A. Beckwith himself, out there in the Ia Drang Valley at Plei Mei, a badder ass non complaining American has never lived, than Charging Charlie Beckwith, the real deal Rambo if there ever was one.

A whole NVA Regiment coming down on him and his 24 Green Berets out there, and even then he didn't declare the sky was about to fall. He turns to the liberal media reporter in camp and hands him a gun, says "all the brown people outside the wire, you shoot, the brown people inside the wire, don't shoot them, they work for me..."

There has always been complainers.

The problem is things like Twitter give them an outsize voice. I don't know personally anyone active on twitter that has a professional job.

I don't see much point in complaining even if you are want to complain, none the less, complaining is no crime, but when the complaining degenerates into declarations of tyranny, the sky imminently about to fall, impending civil war, and adolescent power fantasies about being a Prepper Rambo going around shooting other Americans in some sort of Neo-Fascist revanchist scenario, at that point, starts to get a little ridiculous, but whatevs, ridiculous as you wanna be, just don't come whining to the foreigners for poking fun at'chas, when you go and pull those clown pants on, because we ain't the ones making you out to be clowns, clowny is as clowny does, but don't brame us, roundeyes, that's on you.

Who is hysterical about shit round here? Who is declaring America not to be great? Who is the ones crying wolf about skyfall and civil war? Ain't us foreigners, so nice try, but this much is clear; you apparently can't assert your little Prepper Rambo fantasies without invoking a strawman enemy which doesn't exist, who knew?

Reality check, for us foriegners, this is like the zoo, we just come here to see you panic monkeys freaking out and flinging poo at each other, and occasionally we throw some popcorn into the cages to see if we can get you going, but other than that, we're just here for some laughs, and maybe shoot the breeze with the less panicky monkeys amongst you.
