I believe in the overall political programme I am promoting of Americana and freedom,” the Austin American-Statesman reported Jones as saying.

Well, I guess he's not going with the "It's all just funnin', guys" defense after all. I wonder why his lawyers would say that if their client is going to contradict them. Seems like bad planning.

On another note, the lamest excuse I've ever heard from a guy who smokes weed but wants to pretend he's not just getting high like everybody else:
  • Newman’s cross-examination also brought up where and when Jones has smoked weed. Jones said he takes a few puffs every year to gauge how strong it has become since his high school days, arguing that law enforcement tests the potency of weed the same way he does. Jones’ experiments have led him to conclude that marijuana today is too strong, he said, and therefore should be decriminalized rather than legalized entirely.

“George Soros has basically brain-damaged a lot of people,” Jones said of the liberal billionaire, who has helped fund efforts to legalize the drug.
Because the weed he gets off whatever dealer is crazy enough to sell to him is representative of the potency of all weed in America. And because "Damn, how high am I?" is a scientific scale of measurement.

He also checks cocaine in a similar way as well as heroin, although he has no complaints about either of their current potencies...

Law enforcement tests drugs' potency via experimentation? That's a good gig.

Interesting. I thought you were in on the joke. You take him seriously?

You literally think that the US government is controlling the weather? Satanists are taking over America? Hillary is the master mind of a child sex ring?

Errr... ummmm..... okay. You're loonier than I thought. The man is, literally, playing a clown to make money. He may kinda-sorta believe some of the things he says, but, no, not really.

Really can't trust much of what he says. He and Trump are two peas in a pod, in that regard.

It's why I so rarely talk to him. Also, he usually just calls me names. Not that I care, but I just don't engage very much with people who are so..... blech

AJ's lawyer never said that was going to be his defense. His lawyers were always going to play the "he believes most of what he says, but he hams it up for the ratings" card. If you thought they were going to argue that his entire act is all a lie, that's simply wishful thinking on your part.
