The South Koreans won't do it, the South Koreans do not want to collapse the North, they are afraid of what happens when the wall comes down, they don't want to be stuck with North Korea, they don't want to get into killing Koreans in huge numbers, while refugees stream into the South, lest it destabilize the ROK, they are not going offensive, I would bet that they would refuse to fight significantly north of the DMZ, they wil defend the ROKm but they're not going all the way to Pyongyang, if America goes in there, don't count on allies going with you, assume that you will be going in alone, in terms of offensive and regime change.

Honestly, I'd just rather go in, make noise, kick down some doors, and then leave... this rebuilding shit isn't what we need to do. Especially since the UN has failed to do it on so many levels it's not funny.

China won't get involved... they only keep NK where it is because it pisses off the rest of the world, and distracts everyone from keeping too hard of an eye on China...

Smitty, is there no chance of a total collapse of the NK society once the bombs start dropping and the head is cut off? I don't think it is hubris to think this is an actual possibility. It could go the other way, I suppose, but on the other hand, maybe they're just sick of living the way they do.

I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole, if they go to launch a nuke at you, you nuke them preemptively, counterforce, other than that, just leave it be.

When was the last time it worked out for America, saying "don't worry, our stalwart allies will do all the heavy lifting"? I mean, c'mon, America will be doing all the heavy lifting, don't kid yourselves.

If South Korea and/or China are not willing to take charge on the matter I have no desire to get in a ground war with North Korea, and would not support it.

It's a not a monolith, there's the slaves and then the slave masters, so the slaves would probably welcome regime change, but the slave masters would have to fight for their lives, they cannot be taken, because they would not be taken alive, and with a mountain fortress, wouldn't actually take that many regime dead enders, to turn it into a prolonged and brutal slog, with lots of American boys losing limbs and coming home in body bags, just to do, what exactly? South Korea doesn't even really want regime change and re-unification, so why would you fight for that?

The situation is stable, America is the only Great Power who has ever been inclined to destabilize things just for the sake of destibilizing things, and it's never worked out for America, the Glorius Union out to Free the Slaves everywhere, but it's bad ju-ju.

You are an empire of sorts, you are a great power by default, it never favours the likes of you, to try to destabilize things, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, you're not enslaving the North Koreans, you don't have to free those slaves.
