A homestead up in the mountains, but within driving distance of a decent-sized town that has a good gym and some restaurants would be perfect.

It's crazy how so many guys I knew wanted to go to the Bay Area or Seattle so badly, and not just for the engineering opportunities, but just for the experience of living there. I mean, I can see the draw of a big city, but to just kiss your whole check away to live in a closet... Fuck that.

I would want to live near a decent sized town with a decent size (and a decent) hospital and a town with a movie theater so I can have some kind of entertainment. But honestly, what everybody really needs to establish FIRST is a reliable source of drinking water and then worry about food.
